This is quite interesting in that it indicates he is aware of the proper role and function of the guidelines. The guidelines (of which the deadly weapon enhancement provision is a part of) concern ONLY the MINIMUM sentence.

Thus, to use the guidelines as authority to impose such a sentence, and particularly as a basis to reduce the maximum sentence is an absurdity in itself - and especially ONLY the maximum sentence.
