Beni Matias is an educator, filmmaker, and the former Executive Director of the Association of Hispanic Arts, and former publisher of “The Independent.” She is currently working on the documentary Coquito! as Producer/Director, with Producers Tami Gold and Sonia Gonzalez-Martinez, which is funded by the Latino Public Broadcasting.

Octavio Marin is NALIP’s Signature Programs Director. He has been responsible for producing all of the organization’s programs including the Latino Producers Academy ™, the Latino Media Resource Guide™, the Latino Writers Lab™, the Latino Media Market™, and the National Conference. Previously, he was unit production manager on the feature film How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, and a production consultant on America 101. Octavio was also a production associate and production supervisor on the films One Man’s Hero, andTexas Rangers. Octavio studied management and film production at UCLA and received his Doctors’ Degree from the University of Mexico City.

     
CARLOS ESPINOZA   VANESSA GONZALEZ

Carlos Espinoza began his career in the film industry in 2003 assisting the Art Director on the feature film How the Garcia Girls spent Their Summer. Carlos moved his way up working as a Prop Master for music videos and TV commercials. For the past 5 years he has worked on over 18 feature films as Production Designer/Art Director including; Farmhouse, A Wonderful Christmas, and Rockslyde in 2009, where he earned a nomination for Best Production Design at the Feel Good Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. Carlos joined NALIP in early 2010, and coordinated the eighth Latino Writers Lab, Latino Producers Academy, and regional “Doing your Doc” workshop in New Mexico.

Vanessa Gonzalez is NALIP’s Membership Coordinator. Prior to joining NALIP, she worked as a Stage Manager on several theatrical productions with Whittier College and Chrysalis Stage, which include The Underpants and Anna Karenina among others. She earned her B.A. in Theatre Performance at Whittier College, where she worked on the stage as well as behind it. While at Whittier, she received a KCACTF Merit Award for her work as Production Assistant for Jon Jory’s Pride and Prejudice, where she also played Kitty Bennet. Vanessa came to NALIP initially as their VIP Coordinator for their 2011 National Conference.
