Traditional Turkey Cornbread Stuffing

To prepare a cornbread:

Turn on oven to 400

Mix together:

2 cups cornmeal

1cup flour

1 tsp. Salt

1tbsp. Baking powder

1 egg

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 1/2 - 2 cups milk

Mix together all ingredients until smooth consistency.

Heat a cast iron skillet or a glass-baking dish with 1 tbsp. vegetable oil.

Pour the mixture into heated skillet.

Place in oven and bake on 400° for 30 - 35 minutes until top is golden brown.

When done, let it cool and crumble into a large bowl

Add:

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup finely chopped celery

2-3 tbsp. Sage

3-4 cups meat broth (chicken or turkey)

Salt and pepper to taste.

Mix together.

Either our into a glass-baking dish and bake on 400° until top is golden brown and serve with gravy or sauce on top.

Or fill turkey with the mixture and cook the turkey.
