Below is a detailed description of all the files and directories in your Instant Web Account
.hushlogin - This represses system messages that may scroll by on the screen when you login.
homepage.html - This is the form that allowed you to create your first homepage. If you wish to use it to recreate your homepage, you can type in your URL/admin/homepage.html and then use this form to remake your home page. You will be asked for your login and password, since this page is specific for your homepage.
Welcome.html - This is an important file. This is the first page that shows up when people type in your URL, or in other words your Homepage. Our server is set up to show this page automatically when someone types in your URL. You can change the name of your homepage, but you will have to add that name to your URL, to make it show up. This file is created automatically for you when you sign up and fill out the form to create your home page. The file that is created is just a basic home page. Since most of you will want a much more complicated and interesting homepage than the first one, you will need to create a new homepage on your home machine, and then transfer it over with FTP, replacing the Welcome.html page that is already there.
admin - This is a directory that holds administrative information, usage information and personalizes forms for your site. Its is locked. What that means if that only you can look at the information in that directory.
.htaccess - This file tells the web server who can look at the files in this directory. It allows only you to see these files.
reg_info - This page stores all the personal information you gave us when you registered.
cgi-bin - This directory is where you will place any cgi-scripts you want to use with your web site. Do not modify or remove this directory, or you will not be able to use any cgi-scripts. You need to do a few special things to use cgi-scripts with your site, make sure you look at the cgi script help page for instructions on how to use them, and how hook up your scripts correctly.
search - this is a cgi-bin script specifically written for you. It allows people to search your site. If you answered that you wanted search capabilities on the homepage form, it is already hooked up and ready to go.
forms - We recommend that you put any forms you use in this directory.
images - We recommend that you place gifs and jpegs you use for images in this directory.
