Description of the Email field

In the Email field, you must enter a valid email address. Valid email addresses are in the form of

where "your_domain" needs to be the complete domain such as "compuserve.com" for a compuserve user, or "um.cc.umich.edu" for a University of Michigan user.

Here are some hints on the entering the email address in the email field of the signup form.

• Email addresses cannot contain a space. If you normally have a space as part of your email address (such as: John Doe), please check with your system administrator on how to enter your email as an Internet email address. The rule of thumb for most emails is to convert their space to an underscore ("_"), or eliminate it all together when used as part of the Internet (e.g. John Doe, becomes John_Doe, or JohnDoe).
• Email addresses cannot contain a comma. If you normally enter a comma as part of your email address, please enter a "." in place of the comma.

If you are using one of the popular online services and are used to only entering your user_name without the domain, here are few hints:

• A valid email address for an America Online user is user_name@aol.com
• A valid email address for a Compuserve user is user_name@compuserve.com
• A valid email address for a Microsoft Network user is user_name@msn.com
• A valid email address for a Prodigy user is user_name@prodigy.com

Please note that it is best to press the BACK button on your browser to go back to the form you were filling out. If you enter the form's URL, some browsers will present you with a brand new form. Consequently, you will loose any information that you may have typed in.
