Information Access Company (IAC), is an aggregator of information from approximately 7,000 magazines and newspapers. IAC creates searchable databases of abstracts and full text of articles from these publications and then resells them to the major research houses like Dialog or Lexus Nexus as well as public, academic and corporate libraries. These organizations in turn resell or provide that information in the form of reports or database access to end users. InfoStreet was hired to create a Web site for IAC that provides background information on the company and lists files and databases that they sell. IAC is using the Internet to provide additional information directly to the end users. It is this kind of direct access that is reshaping the publishing and distribution channels in many industries.
