Chapter 8 Overview

Interactive Kiosks
by Margo Komenar

Interactive kiosks offer some unique opportunities to marketers and have a surprisingly accessible entry cost. In Chapter 8 I provide a variety of case examples to illustrate kiosk program design, development and applications. Examples presented include kiosk programs for Levi's 501 jeans, Kathleen Brown's political campaign, the Missouri Botanical Gardens online, Reebok on tour and "through glass", (Reebok's storefront window), and multimedia telephones. With the added connectivity of the Internet, a kiosk can deliver real-time services such as transportation, theater or sports events tickets, course registrations and a variety of online information search and retrieval, etc. It is a flexible and growing marketing opportunity that can be easily adapted to almost any market segment.
