GenVault Corporation, Carlsbad, Ca. Designed, developed, & tested a network of web-enabled, automated, blood/DNA sample and data archives in a multidisciplinary team environment combining biotechnology, automation, enterprise software, and clinical and regulatory disciplines. Implemented front-tier presentation layer using Apache Tomcat, HTML, DHTML-JSP/servlets, JavaScript, & CSS; middle-tier business rules layer with Java and web services (SOAP & XML); and used Oracle DB 9i & Workflow for back-tier data persistence layer implementation. Studied, investigated, & experimented with Oracle 9i Application Services, Business Event Systems, and Advanced Queuing. Used eXtreme Programming software development techniques with JUnit and ANT open source automation tools in JBuilder IDE plus VSS version control on Win2K Pro.

Aurora Biosciences Corporation, San Diego, Ca. Studied and analyzed existing system controller software for robotics automation equipment. Developed object oriented libraries to integrate National Instrument DeviceNet 32-bit multitasking Windows NT kernel drivers using Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol and Parker Automation 32-bit OLE 6K Communications Server. Proposed, prototyped, and tested VC++ software in MSDEV environment for hardware under development. Presented and demonstrated the prototype. Worked closely with management, engineers, and technicians to assure requirements and needs were addressed and met. Created a MFC application to operate Automated Plate Replication System (APRS) robot. Integrated the software with Oracle 7.0 SQLPlus for automated DB job & script retrievals, processing, error detection, reporting, and recovery through web browsers. Provided training, project management, and advice to a team of junior level hardware and bioengineers when needed. APRS was a part of Aurora’s Automated Master Compound Store (AMCS), and Ultra-High Throughput Screening System (UHTSS® Platform) under development to miniaturize and automate drug screening and profiling assays.

HNC Software Inc, San Diego, Ca. Designed and developed a proof-of-concept object oriented Java, JavaScript, and HTML prototype for a 3-tiered client/server Internet product using Oracle and SQLPlus on UNIX and NT platforms. The system displayed and modified data presented in tables and graphs. Met tight deadlines with changing requirements. Researched and integrated Netscape’s Server-Side JavaScript technology and Java charting and graphing software libraries. Developed and integrated "generic" components into the system. See attached recommendation letter from HNC Software Inc.
